Broaden your horizons with The Oxford Exchange. Experience British culture, live in the city of Oxford, enjoy a study trip to London, and gain valuable skills while earning academic credit.
The course begins at The Citadel with enrolment in the International Business course taught by Dr James Bezjian. You will learn the basics of doing business internationally and how successful corporations manage diverse teams while trading and operating globally.
The second part of the programme takes place in the cities of London and Oxford, England where the cohort will live, learn and socialise for two weeks. Taught by world-class international business professionals and tutors, students will learn international management consulting, finance, and entrepreneurship & venture capital. Ultimately, students will complete their Capstone Projects at the end of the course.
In 2023, The Oxford Exchange and The Citadel - The Military College of South Carolina (https://www.citadel.edu/) created an accredited International Business course for cadets to study in England. All university students are welcome to apply to the programme.
The Citadel's first course in Oxford took place at Brasenose College in July 2024. One of the cadets had his paper published in an academic journal and the cohort had an amazing time! This year, the cohort will gather at University College in August.
One-to-One Tutorials: Each student is assigned to a tutor who will advise on the Capstone Exercise that each Cadet will present to the cohort at the end of the course. This is also an opportunity for Cadets from The Citadel to speak privately with their tutors about their career dreams and aspirations, and to also explore postgraduate work.
Seminars: Tutors will guide The Citadel cohort through themed discussions that reference key themes in international business including finance, management consulting best practices, global workforce management and culture, and entrepreneurship & venture capital. For Intelligence & Security Studies students, we are offering a course on Grand Strategy and Security Studies.
Guest Lecturers & Discussions: In the late afternoon or early evening, we offer the opportunity for prominant scholars to share their research or a book with the class relevant to International Business and/or Security & Intelligence Studies. These tutorials are usually followed by dinner where the Guest Tutor is invited to dine with the students and further the discussions over a meal.
Local Study Trips: We offer shorter trips to places such as Blenheim Palace (Winston Churchill's childhood home), the Cotswolds, Chedworth Roman Villa, and other sites.
Localised Tours: We offer optional daily tours of colleges where prominant people in history studied (Adam Smith, John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Shelley, etc.). We will view Chaucer's original Canterbury Tales, and tour Christ Church College Hall and JRR Tolkien's Garden. There will be time to also visit the Ashmolean Museum (Britain's first public museum, the world's second university museum), the Pitt Rivers Museum, and other sites.
Baroque by Candlelight in Chapel: Performed by an Oxford-based musical ensemble (Chiavari Agreable), this is a magical experience we will ejoy one night after dinner, followed by drinks.
High Table Dinner: The cohort will experience a formal dining experience.
Activities: Our “Mentors” (student assistants) lead the cohort in a series of activities including Punting on the Isis, Croquet, Pub Quiz, Pub Crawls, Movie Nights, Oxford City-at-Night, Picnic in the University Parks, and more.
End of Course Celebration: After each participant has presented his or her Capstone Exercise to the cohort, we will gather to celebrate the end of the course, followed by dinner and drinks.

Senior Fellow of The Oxford Exchange, Dr James Bezjian taught the first half of the International Business course for credit at The Citadel. After which The Oxford Exchange managed the second half of the course at Brasenose College, Oxford. Dr Bezjian spearheaded the exploration of elevating the top papers written for The Oxford Exchange for publication in academic journals.
Dr Bezjian and other staff members advised Cadet Charles Keller II on how to prepare his paper for an academic journal, which required many revisions under the tutelage of The Oxford Exchange. We are keen to tutor each of our students to reach their full potential and to master the art of conducting research and writing academically to the standards of Oxford University and Cambridge University.
